Fall Alert

Fall Alert notifies others should a patient fall or experience a non-fall-related event. Auto Alert uses motion sensors within the patient’s Evolv AI, Livio Edge AI, and Livio AI hearing aids to automatically detect when a patient has fallen. Manual Alert can be configured as a ‘Push & Hold’ of the User Control to allow the patient to manually initiate an alert.

Once Auto Alert and/or Manual Alert are enabled via Inspire (see the specific feature below for more information), the patient must complete setup in the Thrive Hearing Control app. The patient’s contacts must be identified, and at least one contact must confirm participation to activate the Fall Alert system. Alert text messages will contain a link from which each contact can confirm receipt of the message and view a map, indicating the patient’s location.

When a fall is detected, or the patient manually initiates an alert, an indicator is played in the patient's hearing aids. If the alert is initiated in error, the patient can cancel the alert by either pressing any user control on the hearing aids, or by tapping I'm Okay in the Thrive Hearing Control app before the timer expires. An indicator is played in the patient's hearing aids confirming that the alert was canceled. When the first contact confirms receipt of the alert text message, an indicator is played in the patient's hearing aids.

If the patient's phone is not connected to the Internet, or the Thrive Hearing Control app isn't open, the alert cannot be sent. A tonal indicator is played in the patient's hearing aids notifying him/her that the alert failed due to a communication error. To avoid communication failures:

Data Log indicates if a fall was automatically detected or a manual alert was sent. Fall Alert is included in the patient’s Fitting Report and Device Guide.

    Field Name Description Details
Auto Fall Alert* Allows automatic fall detection to be enabled/disabled. Auto Fall Alert is enabled by default. When disabled, this feature will not be available to or accessible by the patient in the Thrive Hearing Control app. The patient may toggle this feature off in Thrive.
Fall Detection Sensitivity* Allows for adjustment of the automatic fall detection sensitivity. Click for more information on this setting. Increasing the sensitivity increases the likelihood of detecting a fall. Decreasing the sensitivity may help reduce false alerts. The patient can adjust the sensitivity in Thrive.
