Tools Menu

The Tools Menu provides the options to set hearing aids back to default settings, power off rechargeable devices, swap fitting sessions, generate a remote programming code, maintain programmers, launch Media Player, reset the data log, calibrate speakers for Media Player, access Auto Path, Speech Mapping, Performance Update, and Feedback Canceller, run wireless diagnostics for the SurfLink Programmer, read and program any Starkey brand hearing aid, lock/unlock hearing aids, and clear REM data. Click on any option below for more information.

• Clear Settings and Reset Device - Resets the connected hearing aid(s) back to the default settings
• Ship Mode - Powers off the connected rechargeable hearing aid(s) so it doesn't feed back when sending in for service
  1. Connect and select the desired hearing aid(s) to power off via Get Started.
  2. Click Tools from the Menu Bar.
  3. Click Ship Mode and a dialog box appears asking you to confirm the power off.

     Note:  Ship Mode is only available for Evolv AI, Livio Edge AI, Livio AI, and Livio rechargeable products.

  4. Click Yes to power off the selected hearing aid(s).

     Note:  If Yes was selected, the hearing aid(s) are removed from the Get Started screen because they're no longer detectable.

     Tip:  Click No to not power off the hearing aid(s).

• Swap Fit - Transfers settings from a previous fitting session from one hearing aid to another hearing aid that may differ by product family, tier, style, or feature set
• TeleHear Remote Services - Generates a code for the patient to enter into the Thrive Hearing Control app to establish a link between you and the patient for remote programming
  1. Make sure your PC has Internet access.
  2. Log in to the TeleHear Portal.  

     Note:  The user logged in will be linked to the patient. However, any user can service the patient remotely or adjust their custom memories during a live fitting.

  3. From the Get Started screen, click Tools from the Menu Bar.
  4. Click TeleHear Remote Services.

     Note:  TeleHear Remote Services is only available if remote programming is enabled via Configuration Preferences and is not available during a live fitting.

  5. Check or uncheck Associate code with currently selected client: Last name, first name to link or not link the code to the patient and Noah or PatientBase, if applicable.

     Note:  This checkbox is only available if a patient was selected and Inspire was launched from within Noah 4.3 or higher or PatientBase. If no patient was selected, the disabled checkbox No client selected in office system displays. To link the code to a patient and Noah or PatientBase, click Close, select the patient, and then repeat steps 3-4. This connection will automatically launch any remote programming fitting session for the patient via the TeleHear Portal. If the code is not associated to a patient, once the code is entered into the Thrive Hearing Control app, the patient can be linked later via TeleHear.

  6. Click to generate a code.

     Note:  If an active code already exists for the selected patient, this button is disabled. The code will expire in three days.

  7. Click Close.
• Programmers - Searches and selects the programmers to be used within Inspire
• Media Player - Launches Media Player to play and record audio files for the patient during a fitting session
• Reset Data Log - Resets the Data Log to erase all current data in the hearing aid(s) and begin logging new data effective this date
  1. Connect and select the desired hearing aid(s) to reset via Get Started.

  2. Click on the Read Device Settings or Load a Previous Session radio button and then click Start.

  3. Click Tools from the Menu Bar.
  4. Click Reset Data Log and a dialog box appears asking you to confirm the reset.

     Note:  Reset Data Log is only available during a live fitting if Data Log is enabled.

  5. To reset only the right or left hearing aid, uncheck Right or Left.
  6. Click OK to clear the data log from the selected hearing aid(s).

     Tip:  Click Cancel to cancel the reset.

• Speaker Calibration... - Calibrates the PC's speakers in preparation for using Media Player
• Adult Auto Path - Launches a wizard to assist in completing the initial fitting of an adult hearing aid patient
• Pediatric Auto Path - Launches a wizard to assist in completing the initial fitting of a pediatric hearing aid patient
• Speech Mapping/Stop Speech Mapping - Verifies speech audibility and comfort. On the Tools Menu, Speech Mapping and Stop Speech Mapping toggle between each other based on the option currently selected.
• Performance Update - Updates the 900 MHz hearing aid's firmware to operate at a more advanced performance level, oftentimes making new features available
• SurfLink Wireless Diagnostics - Troubleshoots issues with SurfLink wireless connections and provides solutions to the problems
• Add Code - Allows you to read and program any brand of Starkey hearing aid by entering an encrypted code provided by Customer Service
  1. Disconnect the hearing aid(s) and locate the serial number(s).
  2. Contact Customer Service and give the representative the serial number for each hearing aid, if applicable. The representative will provide a code for each hearing aid which must be entered into Inspire.

     Note:  The code(s) can be emailed if desired.

  3. Click Tools from the Menu Bar.
  4. Click Add Code.
  5. Enter the 16 alphanumeric code provided by Customer Service.
  6. Click Add to add the code to Inspire and a confirmation message displays.

     Tip:  If the code was not accepted, repeat steps 5-6.

     Tip:  Click Close to cancel adding the code.

  7. Repeat steps 5-6 to enter another code, if applicable.
  8. Click Close.
  9. Reconnect and select the hearing aid(s) via Get Started.
• Feedback Canceller - Launches Feedback Canceller to prevent feedback in a wide variety of environments
• Device Access Settings... - Locks hearing aid fitting data to prevent unauthorized users from making any modifications and unlocks hearing aids that are locked
• Clear REM Target Match - Removes the REM Target Match data in the hearing aid(s)
  1. Connect and select the desired hearing aid(s) to reset via Get Started.

  2. Click on the Read Device Settings or Load a Previous Session radio button and then click Start.

  3. Click Tools from the Menu Bar.
  4. Click Clear REM Target Match and a dialog box appears asking you to confirm the deletion.

     Note:  Clear REM Target Match is only available during a live fitting.

  5. To clear only the right or left hearing aid, uncheck Right or Left.
  6. Click OK to clear the data from the selected hearing aid(s).

     Tip:  Click Cancel to cancel the deletion.

     Note:  If cleared, the vertical axis on the fitting graph displays 'Predicted Real Ear (dB SPL)'.
