Performance Updater

Performance Updater updates the hearing aid's firmware to operate at a more advanced performance level, oftentimes making new features available. Firmware is the computer code residing in the hearing aid circuit that tells the hearing aid how to function. Whenever a hearing aid is connected and read or a live fitting session is in progress, if Inspire identifies that a newer firmware version is available, a Performance Update radio button appears via Get Started or an alert displays to the right of Fitting on the Left Navigation Menu. If a firmware update is available, it's highly recommended you update the hearing aid(s) to ensure optimal performance. If the firmware is not updated, either the Performance Update radio button or alert will continue to appear on the aforementioned screens until the hearing aid(s) is updated.

If binaural hearing aids contain different firmware versions that are incompatible, the hearing aids cannot be fit until the hearing aid with the lower firmware version is updated. In addition, if a firmware update was started but was not fully completed, the hearing aid cannot be fit until the update is completed successfully. If the update was originally started on the same PC, the update can be continued. If the update was originally started on a different PC, the update cannot be continued and Customer Service should be contacted for assistance.

1. Connect and select the desired hearing aid(s) to update via Get Started.

   Note:  With the exception of rechargeable, Evolv AI, Livio Edge AI, Livio AI, and Livio products, wireless hearing aids should be connected via a wired programmer (SpeedPort 2, USB Hi-Pro 2, or USB Hi-Pro) to preserve battery life.

2. Click on the Performance Update radio button and then click Start.

   Note:  This radio button is only available if a performance update identified. The hearing aid's current firmware version and serial number, and the new update version and details describing the update and/or features display. If a performance update is available for a rechargeable product but the battery life is low or less than 25%, this radio button is disabled. The device must be recharged first in order to perform the update.

   Tip:  If a live fitting session is currently in progress and a performance update is available, an alert displays to the right of Fitting on the Left Navigation Menu. Point to and click Go to Performance Update.

   Tip:  From any Fitting or Advanced Tools screen, click Tools from the Menu Bar and click Performance Update to access. This feature is only available if a 900 MHz performance update was identified.

   Note:  If a session is currently in progress that hasn't been saved, the Save Fitting screen displays. Click Yes to save the session, click No to not save the session, or click Cancel to cancel accessing Performance Update. If custom memories were adjusted during the session, this data will not be saved to the Thrive Hearing Control app if No is selected.

3. Click Firmware Update and important information regarding the performance update displays.

   Note:  If two hearing aids were connected and both devices require firmware updates, both aids will be updated. Ear sides cannot be selected independently. If two hearing aids were connected but only one device requires a firmware update, only the one aid will be updated. For 2.4 GHz CROS/BiCROS devices, only the receiver will be updated.

   Tip:  Click Close to cancel updating the firmware.

   Note:  It's important to remove the hearing aid(s) from the patient's ear(s) prior to updating the firmware.

4. Click Update and a progress bar indicates the overall status of completion.
5. Click Finish once the update is complete and the Get Started screen automatically displays.

   Note:  If Evolv AI, Livio Edge AI, Livio AI, Livio, Halo iQ, Halo 2, or Halo products were updated, the hearing aids may have to be unpaired from the iOS device and paired again.

   Note:  The hearing aid's Data Log was automatically reset as a result of this process.
