Media Player

Media Player provides a convenient way to demonstrate the features and benefits of digital hearing technology to patients. Inspire provides numerous audio files to play (e.g., Airplane, Car Horn, Rain, etc. and samples of the various voice indicators available on some products); however, audio files and categories (e.g., Moderate Sounds, Speech, etc.) can be added and maintained via Audio Files Preferences. Prior to using the Media Player, it is important to calibrate your system speakers. See Speaker Calibration for more information.

Audio files can be played, paused, stopped, and recorded. Launching Media Player provides the options to select an audio file from within a specific category, adjust the volume, display a waveform during the playback, and access Audio Files Preferences to add, edit, and delete categories and/or audio files.

  1. Click Media Player Media Player on the Inspire Toolbar to access.
  2. Select the desired Category Name from the drop down list and a list of audio files assigned to that category displays.
  3. Select the specific Audio File to play from the drop down list.
  4. Click Play Play to start the playback.
  5. Drag the Volume Volume Control slider in either direction to increase or decrease the volume.
  6. Click to show the waveform, if a visual depiction of the sound waveform and file presentation length are desired.
  7. Click Stop Stop to stop the playback.
  8. To record an audio file for the selected patient, click Record Record and begin speaking into the microphone.
  9. When finished recording, click Stop Stop and a message display indicating the name of the file.
Note:  The name of the file is Recording 1 and displays under the category Recordings. If additional files are recorded during the same session for the selected patient, the numeric value within the filename will increment by 1 (e.g., Recording 2, Recording 3, etc.). These files aren't saved within the session. Once Inspire closes or a different patient is selected, all recordings are removed from Media Player.
  10. Click OK.
  11. To play the recorded audio files, repeat steps 4-7.
  12. Click X on the Title Bar to close.
