Auto Path

Auto Path provides a quick and easy method of completing an initial fitting in a very short time period. Up to five procedures can be processed during the wizard including Live Real Ear or Integrated Real Ear, Feedback Canceller, Best Fit, Reset Data Log, and Indicator Language selection. Based on the hearing aid connected and the patient's age determines which procedures are available. Any available procedure can be included or excluded if desired. Auto Path is available for all products except Xino Classic 20, Zōn.1 and Destiny 200.

Auto Path is available for both adult and pediatric patients. Feedback Canceller is not available for pediatrics in Group 1 and Best Fit applies specific settings to pediatrics based on the DSL v5 fitting formula and the patient's age.

Auto Path launches automatically when the hearing aid(s) is first connected to Inspire if this feature is enabled via General Preferences. If Auto Path is bypassed at the initial connection, a message to allow Auto Path to launch the next time the aid(s) is read displays. Auto Path can be run at any time in the fitting process; however, it is most appropriate during the initial fitting.

1. Connect and select the desired hearing aid(s) to fit via Get Started.

2. Click on the Read Device Settings or Load a Previous Session radio button and then click Start.

   Note:  If Auto Path is required in at least one of the hearing aids connected, Auto Path automatically displays if Launch Auto Path on Initial Read is selected via General Preferences. Continue at step 5. However, if the acoustic options were not set previously, the Acoustic Options screen displays first.

3. Click Tools from the Menu Bar.
4. Click Adult Auto Path or Pediatric Auto Path.

   Note:  Adult Auto Path is only available if the patient is 18 years of age or older. If Pediatric Auto Path is selected but the patient is 18 years of age or older, the patient will be fit based on Group 3. If Pediatric Auto Path is selected but no date of birth has been entered in Noah, PatientBase, or ProHear, a message to enter the patient's date of birth in the office system displays.

5. Insert the hearing aid(s) into the patient’s ear(s) and instruct the patient to remain quiet during the entire process.

   Note:  The hearing aid(s) is automatically muted. If the aid(s) is placed in the ear(s) prior to accessing Auto Path, it may produce loud feedback.

6. Inspire automatically defaults to a binaural fit if applicable. To fit only the right or left hearing aid, click or .

   Note:  If fitting binaurally but Auto Path was processed previously on one of the hearing aids, only the aid not processed is selected. If fitting CROS/BiCROS devices, only the receiver aid can be fit, therefore, the side cannot be selected.

7. Click the checkbox to the left of any procedure to include or exclude if desired.

   Note:  Inspire remembers the procedures checked and unchecked the last time Adult Auto Path was processed and automatically defaults to those selections. However, it's recommended that all procedures are selected for an initial adult fitting.

   Note:  If Live Real Ear and/or Best Fit is selected, the fitting formula will automatically change to the default formula selected via Target Preferences, if different, during this Adult Auto Path process. However, if Spatial Hearing is enabled, fitting formula e-STAT AI will be selected. During any Pediatric Auto Path process, the fitting formula will automatically change to DSL v5, if different.

8. Select the Indicator Language from the drop down list if applicable.

   Note:  The Indicator Language selected via Configuration Preferences automatically defaults. If fitting binaurally but processing only one hearing aid, the Indicator Language selection applies to both aids.

9. Click Begin to start the wizard.

   Note:  This button is only enabled during a live fitting.

   Tip:  To cancel Auto Path, click Close. If Auto Path has never been processed in at least one of the hearing aids connected, a dialog box appears asking if Auto Path should be skipped in future sessions. To launch Auto Path automatically the next time the aid(s) is read, click OK. To bypass Auto Path in the future, check Right and/or Left and click OK.

10. If Pediatric Auto Path was selected, the DSL v5 Fitting Formula Options screen displays. Change any preferences if desired and click Next.

    Tip:  To cancel Pediatric Auto Path, click Cancel.

11. If processing Live Real Ear or Integrated Real Ear, follow the on screen instructions and click Next.

    Note:  Regardless of the graphical view currently selected, the fitting graph automatically changes to Real Ear Response output and Input Type: Speech and must be changed back to the previous selections, if different, once Auto Path is closed.

12. Once the measurement is complete, remove the probe tube and then click Next. If processing Live Real Ear, click Next again to continue with the next procedure if applicable.

    Note:  If the measurement was unsuccessful, a message displays. Reposition the probe tube, check for debris in the probe, reduce all sources of noise and click Retry.

13. An animated icon appears to the left of the procedure being performed.

    Tip:  Click Pause to pause any procedure currently in process if necessary. Click Resume to continue from the state at which it was paused. To stop Auto Path and cancel all remaining unprocessed procedures, click Stop and continue at step 14.

    Note:  Once a procedure is complete, a checkmark displays. Once all selected procedures are complete, the results of each procedure displays.

14. Click Go to Integrated Speech Mapping to verify good speech audibility and comfort in the aid(s), click Close to close Auto Path and return to the previous screen, or click Restart to process all or select procedures again.

    Note:  'Go to Integrated Speech Mapping' is only available if Adult Auto Path was selected. If the user controls have not been set on applicable hearing aids, the User Controls screen automatically displays once Integrated Speech Mapping or Adult Auto Path is closed.

    Note:  When Auto Path is closed, the hearing aid(s) is automatically unmuted (only if unmuted prior to accessing Auto Path manually). If Auto Path was launched automatically and Automatically Mute Devices When Detected is selected via General Preferences, the hearing aid(s) remains muted.

    Note:  To reverse any Auto Path procedures, see Undo.
