The Best Fit/Target Match algorithm optimally adjusts various hearing device parameters to the recommended gain and feature settings. When selecting the Best Fit option, the gain/frequency response settings of the device are changed to best approximate the targets for either the selected fitting formula for inputs of 50, 65, and 80 dB SPL or the Music fitting formula. Additionally, the Best Fit option sets various feature settings (e.g., noise control, indicator presentation levels, etc.) to the recommended default settings. The Target Match option functions similarly; however, it only adjusts the gain/frequency response settings of the device to best approximate targets for either the selected fitting formula or the Music fitting formula but does not change the settings of additional features. Best Fit is typically recommended during initial fittings or if starting a fitting over, and Target Match is recommended during follow-up fittings to reset only the gain/frequency response of the device. Both Best Fit and Target Match can be applied to a single memory or all memories.
Automatic Best Fit/Target MatchAutomatic Best Fit/Target Match
There are several situations in which a Best Fit or Target Match will be executed automatically during a fitting session. If the fitting formula is changed to any formula except DSL v5, a Best Fit will be executed automatically if Perform on fitting formula change is checked via Target Preferences but if this feature is unchecked, a Target Match will be executed. If the fitting formula is changed to DSL v5, a Best Fit will be executed automatically regardless if Perform on fitting formula change is checked or unchecked. All current Self Learning, user control, memory, and/or T² settings will not be changed as a result of these automatic processes. In addition, if a memory environment is changed to a different memory environment or a Disabled memory is enabled, a Best Fit for that memory will be executed automatically. However, if the audiogram is changed for an existing patient, the fitting targets will be updated but a Best Fit will not be executed automatically.
Maximum output settings will be reset to the recommended values every time a Best Fit or Target Match occurs.
For products with volume control adjustment capabilities, if Modify Reserve Gain Without Prompting is checked via General Preferences, Best Fit will automatically modify the reserve gain without prompting when necessary. If this feature is unchecked, a prompt will appear if the reserve gain will be modified to best match the fitting formula target.
Feedback CancellerFeedback Canceller
If potential feedback exists in any program's mid frequencies for Evolv AI products and/or Maximum Stable Gain data exists and the programmed gain exceeds MSG in Evolv AI, Livio Edge AI, Livio AI, Livio, and Picasso products, a Best Fit will automatically adjust the mid-frequency management and/or gain to prevent feedback if Apply Auto Adjust to eliminate feedback is checked via General Preferences. In addition, whenever the fitting formula is changed, these adjustments will be automatically applied if this preference is checked and Perform on fitting formula change is checked via Target Preferences.
Best Fit applies specific settings to pediatrics based on the DSL v5 fitting formula (unless a different fitting formula is stored in the hearing aid) and the patient's age. See Pediatric for the specific settings that will be applied per pediatric group.
Click on the Read Device Settings or Load a Previous Session radio button and then click Start.
| Note: If Auto Path is required in at least one of the hearing aids connected, Auto Path automatically displays if Launch Auto Path on Initial Read is selected via General Preferences. However, if the acoustic options were not set previously, the Acoustic Options screen displays first. |
| Note: If the patient is pediatric and his/her age group has changed since the last fitting, a message that the Best Fit settings have changed displays. Click Maintain current settings to update the hearing aid(s) with the new targets but maintain the current programmed settings or click Initiate Auto Path to launch either Pediatric or Adult Auto Path based on the patient's current age. |
