Indicators
Indicators set and adjust the signals that inform the patient of a low battery, program change, volume increase/decrease, etc., select the language for speech indicators and enable/disable any desired indicators. Adjustments can be made globally or individually and demonstrated to the patient through his/her hearing aids or to his/her family through the computer's speakers.
The indicators available are based on the hearing aid connected or simulated and its physical user control (e.g., rocker switch, push button, etc.). Indicators are enabled by default if the hearing aid features are enabled. For example, Telephone is only enabled if a Telephone program is enabled.
Indicator Types and Presentation LevelsIndicator Types and Presentation Levels
Either a speech, chime (Startup Sound and Sleep SoundSleep Sound only), or tone (pure or tone series) signal can be selected for most indicators. Speech automatically defaults for all indicators that support speech, chimes automatically default for Startup Sound and Sleep Sound, and tone automatically defaults for all other indicators.
The default presentation levels are based on the patient's audiogram. The default speech and pure tone levels are based on the patient’s Pure Tone Average, and the default tone series/tone levels are based on the patient’s threshold for the specific frequency. All levels can be increased or decreased in 5 dB increments.
Speech IndicatorsSpeech Indicators
When changing programs or adjusting the volume, the patient can choose which type of indicator he/she prefers to hear.
For the Program/Home and Telephone indicators, the environment name (e.g., "Personal", "Restaurant", "Telephone", etc.), an alternative name (e.g., "Home", "Noise", "Mobile", etc.), a number (e.g., "1", "2", etc.), or a tone can be heard. If a speech indicator is selected (e.g., "Personal", "Home", "1", etc.), either the program environment name selected via Programs (default) or the speech indicator that the patient hears can be displayed on the program bar. Clicking
on the program bar displays the patient's indicators and clicking
redisplays the program environment names.
- Connect and select the desired hearing aid(s) to adjust via Connect.
-
Click Connect.
- Click Indicators from the Left Navigation Menu.

Tip: Click Edit Indicators via User Controls to access. - Click All Indicators to make any global adjustments global adjustments if desired.

* The indicator program numbers or names are displayed under each column if the same stimulus is not selected for all enabled indicators within its group (e.g., Program/Home, Volume, etc.). The Indicator name is a hyperlink to the individual indicator. Field Name Description Details Audible Indicators Tone (adjust all) Increases, decreases, or resets all enabled tonal indicator levels. Click
to increase or
to decrease all tonal levels 5 dB. Subsequent clicks increase or decrease all levels in 5 dB increments. Once the maximum or minimum level is reached, the button is disabled. Click Reset to revert all tonal indicators to their Best Fit level (+0 dB). These levels can also be adjusted via User Controls when Demo Mode is active.Enabled Tone Indicators* Displays a list of all enabled tone indicators and their current setting. The current setting is automatically updated whenever a global or individual indicator tone level adjustment is made. If the setting differs per ear side in a Binaural view, they will be shown in their ear side color. Speech (adjust all) Increases, decreases, or resets all enabled speech indicator levels. Click
to increase or
to decrease all speech levels 5 dB. Subsequent clicks increase or decrease all levels in 5 dB increments. Once the maximum or minimum level is reached, the button is disabled. Click Reset to revert all speech indicators to their Best Fit level (+0 dB). These levels can also be adjusted via User Controls when Demo Mode is active.Enabled Speech Indicators* Displays a list of all enabled speech indicators and their current setting. The current setting is automatically updated whenever a global or individual indicator speech level adjustment is made. If the setting differs per ear side in a Binaural view, they will be shown in their ear side color. Indicator Language Selects the language for all speech indicators. If simulating, the Indicator Language selected via Configuration Preferences automatically defaults. Enable automatic indicator level change Denotes whether or not the hearing aid should automatically adjust the volume level based on the noise level in a specific environment. This feature is automatically checked by default. Visual Indicators (only displays if fitting or simulating Omega AI RIC devices with LED) Indicator Lights On/Off Denotes whether or not the LED indicators should be on or off. The default is On. If Off, the lights will only illuminate for 'Find My Hearing Aids' in the My Starkey mobile application. Note: If fitting binaurally but viewing monaurally, any tone and/or speech adjustments apply to the selected ear side only. However, any indicator language, enable automatic indicator level change, and/or indicator light selections are automatically assigned to both ears because the settings must match between devices. - To adjust a specific indicator, click the checkbox to the right of the indicator to enable or disable.

Note: If the hearing aid feature hasn't been enabled, this field is disabled. Enable the desired feature first (e.g., program, volume, tinnitus, etc.) via the appropriate Fitting screen. However, Program/Home, Volume (hearing aid and accessory volume), Accessory Stream, and Mute are automatically enabled via Best Fit in Omega AI, Edge AI, G Series AI, and Genesis AI wireless products because accessories can be paired outside of Pro Fit. For volume Max and Steps, reserve gain must be available via User Controls. When an indicator is enabled, the average level of all enabled indicators of that type (tone or speech) defaults. Note: Individual indicators for Max, Default, Steps, and Min are located under the main Volume, Tinnitus Level, or Balance indicator (must contain either a rocker switch or push button, or support T2 remote control). If the main indicator is enabled or disabled, all individual indicators will be enabled or disabled. If all the individual indicators are enabled, a checkmark
will be displayed for the main Volume, Tinnitus Level, or Balance indicator. If all individual indicators are disabled, no checkmark
will be displayed. If all the individual indicators are neither enabled nor disabled, a square
displays.Note: Custom, which is located under the Program/Home indicator (see the first Note above for usage), is only available for Omega AI, Edge AI, G Series AI, and Genesis AI wireless products. If Program/Home is enabled, tones will only be presented if the Custom program is initiated manually via the user control or the mobile device. Note: For CROS/BiCROS products, indicators can only be enabled or disabled for the receiver aid; however, if Low Battery, Mute, and/or Sleep Sound are enabled, a cue indicator will be presented in the transmitter after the speech, chime, or tone series/tone indicating that this device's battery is low, muting, or is turning off. The receiver aid will only play the speech, chime, or tone series/tone when this device's battery is low, muting, or turning off. These indicators can be demonstrated through the patient's hearing aid or computer speakers by first clicking Receiver or Transmitter. Note: T2 Wake and Manual Alert cannot be enabled or disabled via this screen. Rather, they must be enabled or disabled via User Controls. Assistant, Edge Mode+ and Offline Mode are automatically enabled and cannot be disabled in wireless products. When Offline Mode is enabled (Bluetooth is turned off), the patient will hear the Offline Mode indicator but when it's disabled (Bluetooth is turned back on), the patient will hear the Program/Home indicator. Note: If viewing binaurally, both hearing aids will be enabled or disabled based on the selection. To enable or disable the right or left hearing aid only, click
or
and then click the desired checkbox. - Click on the specific indicator to adjust if desired.

Note: Only enabled indicators can be adjusted. - Click
to increase or
to decrease the tone or speech level 5 dB. Subsequent clicks increase or decrease the level in 5 dB increments.
Note: If global adjustments were made in step 5, any adjustments to a specific indicator are based on the new global level. For example, if the global tone level is increased +5 dB and then the tone level for a specific indicator is increased +5 dB, the new level for that indicator is +10 dB. If global adjustments are made after a specific indicator is adjusted, the level for that indicator will be adjusted again. Tip: Once the maximum or minimum level is reached, the button is disabled. Click Reset to revert the indicator to its Best Fit level (+0 dB). - Select the desired Stimulus from the drop-down list per individual indicator, if applicable.

Note: Based on the indicator selected determines the available stimulus (speech, tone series, or specific pure tones). If the stimulus changes from speech to tone or vice versa, the average level of all enabled indicators of that type (tone or speech) defaults. Note: If fitting binaurally but viewing monaurally, the stimulus selected is automatically assigned to the opposite ear side because the setting must match between devices. - If Speech or a "Speech/Number Indicator" was selected in step 9, check or uncheck Speech Alert Tone to enable or disable the alert tone.

Note: If checked, an alert tone will play before the speech indicator. The alert tone level will mimic the speech indicator level selected. Note: If fitting binaurally but viewing monaurally, the selected setting is automatically assigned to the opposite ear side because the state of this feature must match between devices. - Click
to demonstrate the indicator to the patient through his/her hearing aid(s).
Note: This button is only enabled during a live fitting. If viewing binaurally and the indicator is enabled in both hearing aids, the indicator is presented in the left aid first, followed by a 2 second delay before it's presented in the right aid. - Click
to demonstrate the indicator to the patient's family through the computer's speakers if desired.
