Memories/Environments

Memories customizes the patient's hearing aid based on his/her lifestyle (e.g., music listener, television watcher, etc.). Based on the hearing aid connected or simulated determines the environments (e.g., Music, Television, etc.) and number of memories (e.g., 2, 4, etc.) available. The environment selected modifies the frequency shaping and/or compression characteristics based on the *Normal memory, therefore, at least one memory must be set to *Normal.

Memories can be programmed via two configurations. Configure Phone Options or Standard selects the environments, configures telephone Offsets, microphone attenuation Offsets for Telecoil, Autocoil, or Loop signals, and Direct Audio Input settings, and enables/disables the microphone and telecoil, if applicable. Additional Configuration Options or Advanced copies, moves, and links memories and enables/disables memory button functionality (e.g., Telephone Release Time, Include memory 4 in rotation, etc.).

Telephone MemoriesTelephone Memories

Up to 4 different telephone environments may be available to select from in the drop down list. Autophone is only available if the hearing aid contains an automatic telephone response, Telecoil is only available if the hearing aid contains 4 memories and an induction coil, and Autocoil is only available if the hearing aid contains both an induction coil and automatic telephone response. If both Autophone and Autocoil are available, only one environment, not both, can be selected in the hearing aid. If a telephone environment is desired, it's highly recommended you configure it in the last memory (e.g., 2, 4, etc.). When binaurally fitting wireless products except CROS/BiCROS, the option to enable a telephone environment for the right only, left only, both, right sends signal to left, or left sends signal to right can be selected. If only one ear side is selected, the Offset or Receive Signal environment is automatically selected for the opposite ear side. See Wireless Telephone Options for more information.

Stream BoostStream Boost

Stream Boost is an additional memory in select wireless products that if enabled, automatically switches the patient's hearing aid(s) to streaming settings whenever audio streaming is started from the paired Apple iOS/Android device, remote, hearing aid user control, or a steaming accessory. This memory cannot be copied or moved and is not included in rotation but can be linked to other memories if desired. Stream Boost can only be enabled/disabled via the Apple iOS/Android device for 2.4 GHz products, and via this screen for 900 MHz products if Mobile, Remote Mic/Mini Mobile, and/or Media was selected via Accessories.

Custom MemoriesCustom Memories

Custom memories created in the Thrive Hearing Control app for Evolv AI, Livio Edge AI, Livio AI, and Livio products can be adjusted during a remote programming or live fitting session if logged into the TeleHear Portal and the patient is enrolled. (If the patient hasn't added a professional and entered a code in the Thrive Hearing Control app, see Setting Up TeleHear for a Patient for more information.) To adjust custom memories, select the desired memory from the ’Select Custom Memory’ drop down list and then click on the custom memory field.

  1. Connect and select the desired hearing aid(s) to configure via Get Started.
  2. Click on the Read Device Settings or Load a Previous Session radio button and then click Start.

  3. Click Memories.

Note:  If fitting wireless products binaurally but viewing monaurally, the environment or state of Stream Boost selected for one memory is automatically assigned to the opposite ear side because the setting must match between devices. If fitting CROS/BiCROS devices, only the receiver aid can be configured, therefore, the side cannot be selected.
  5. Click to expand the Configure Phone Options section if not currently expanded.
Note:  Only one section can be expanded at a time, therefore, if Additional Configuration Options is expanded and then Configure Phone Options is expanded, Additional Configuration Options is automatically collapsed. For Xino Classic, Zōn, and Destiny products, the Standard configuration automatically defaults.
  6. Select the desired environment per applicable memory from the drop down list and/or enable/disable Stream Boost if applicable. For a description of each environment and a recommendation based on the patient's lifestyle, click herehere. These environments are not available for all products.
Tip:  To view the frequency response of a particular environment, click on the specific memory or the applicable Memory button (e.g., , , etc.). For Xino Classic, Zōn, and Destiny products, environments can also be selected via any graphical view by clicking on the memory tab (e.g., , , etc.) and then clicking on the desired environment.
    Environment Description
Normal Default environment that is customized based on the patient's audiogram. It's the active memory when the hearing aid is powered on.
Meeting Suitable for patients that are regularly in meetings or with small groups of people. Defaults to an automatic directional response that adapts to the input level and signal-to-noise ratio to provide the best response for the environment.
Crowd Designed for patients who spend a lot of time in large groups where there's an increased level of background noise. Defaults to an automatic directional response that adapts to the input level and signal-to-noise ratio to provide the best response for the environment and assist with speech understanding.
