Expert Assistant

Expert Assistant is a tool that can be used to address patient complaints and provide solutions. Issues can be resolved by applying these solutions directly to the hearing aid(s). Inspire provides a comprehensive list of complaints based on common patient issues. The complaints are organized by categories (e.g., Hearing in Noise, Speech, etc.) to assist in selecting the most accurate issue (e.g., Can't hear speech well in noise, Voices are too loud, etc.). The list of categories and/or complaints available are based on the hearing aid connected or simulated.

Once a complaint is selected, Expert Assistant allows you to review the recommended solutions and manually apply the adjustments in the order you prefer. Any adjustments can be demonstrated live to the patient by playing an audio file via Media Player. Media Player can be launched automatically whenever Expert Assistant is accessed, or can be accessed during the fitting session. Regardless if launched or not, Media Play automatically selects the audio file associated with the currently selected complaint, if available, so the patient can evaluate the adjustments.

Note:  The category List All automatically defaults.
  8. Click on the Complaint that best describes the patient's issue and the first recommended adjustment in the sequence is automatically selected.
Tip:  Clicking on the complaint toggles between expanding and collapsing the list of recommended adjustments.

  10. Click Apply.
Note:  If complaint Hearing device is whistling was selected in step 8 and adjustment Initialize Feedback Cancellation was selected in step 9, Feedback Canceller automatically launches to address this issue.
Note:  The adjustment applied displays in the Adjustment History section and is coded by the ear adjusted. Right ear adjustment indicates the Right ear, Left ear adjustment indicates the Left ear, and Binaural adjustment indicates a Binaural adjustment. If fitting binaurally but the adjustment could only be applied to one ear side, the adjustment is represented in bold.
  11. If Media Player was launched automatically, click Play Play to start the playback of the selected audio file to demonstrate the adjustment to the patient if desired.
Note:  If an audio file is not available for the selected complaint, the last audio file selected displays. A different audio file can be selected from the drop down list.
  12. If the adjustment improved the issue, click Apply to repeat the same adjustment, or click on a different Adjustment and click Apply. If the adjustment did not improve the issue, click Undo Last Action and repeat steps 9-10.
Note:  If Apply was selected and the same adjustment was not applicable, "No room for further adjustments" displays below the Undo Last Action button. If additional adjustments are needed, repeat steps 9-10. If Undo Last Action was selected, the previous adjustment was undone and removed from the Adjustment History section.
Tip:  Click Undo Undo on the Inspire Toolbar to reverse the most recent action.
  13. Repeat step 12 for the next applied adjustment.
Note:  Adjustments are listed in reverse chronological order in the Adjustment History section with the most recent adjustment at the top. The adjustments pertaining to the selected view (e.g., right ear, binaural, etc.) displays. However, if viewing monaurally and the binaural view is later selected, the entire Expert Assistant screen is reset but all previous adjustments were applied to the hearing aid(s).
  14. Once all applicable adjustments have been applied, "No room for further adjustments" displays below the Undo Last Action button. Click Stop Stop to stop the playback if applicable.
Note:  If there are additional recommendations beyond adjustments (e.g., Consider vent modifications, Consider Listening Check, etc.), "No software action available. Please select another solution" displays.
Note:  If adjustments were made via Expert Assistant and then another Inspire screen is accessed, all adjustments were applied to the hearing aid(s). If Expert Assistant is accessed later during the same fitting session, the Adjustment History section is cleared. To reverse any Expert Assistant adjustments, which are designated with an 'EA' in the list of undo actions, see Undo.
  15. Repeat steps 5-14 to address additional complaints if applicable.
