Media Player

Media Player provides a convenient way to demonstrate the features and benefits of digital hearing technology to patients. Pro Fit provides numerous audio files to play (e.g., Airplane, Car Horn, Rain, etc. and samples of the various voice indicators available on some products); however, audio files and categories (e.g., Moderate Sounds, Speech, etc.) can be added and maintained via Audio Files Preferences.

Audio files can be played, paused, stopped, and recorded. Launching Media Player provides the options to select an audio file from within a specific category, adjust the volume, play a specific portion of the file, and access Audio Files Preferences to add, edit, and delete categories and/or audio files.

  1. Click Tools from the Menu Bar and click Media Player to access.
Note:  An icon appears on the Windows® taskbar, allowing you to minimize, restore, and close Media Player.
  2. Select the desired Category Name from the drop-down list, and a list of audio files assigned to that category will be displayed.
Note:  The category List All automatically defaults.
Tip:  To add, edit, or delete categories, click Add.
  3. Select the specific Audio File to play from the drop-down list.
Tip:  To add, edit, or delete audio files, click Add.
  4. Click Play Play to start the playback.
Note:  The elapsed time and total file duration are numerical. The audio file loops continuously until it is either stopped or paused. To play a different audio file, select either a different category name or file from the drop-down lists, and either the first audio file in the selected category list or the selected file automatically starts playing.
Tip:  The Play Play button changes to Pause Pause. Click Pause Pause to pause the playback. Click Play Play to resume the playback.
  5. Drag the Volume Volume Control slider in either direction to increase or decrease the volume.
  6. Drag the waveform slider Slider in either direction to play a specific portion of the file if desired. The elapsed time counter adjusts automatically based on the position of the slider.
  7. Click Stop Stop to stop the playback.
  8. To record an audio file for the selected patient, click Record Record and begin speaking into the microphone.
Note:  The time counter starts and displays the elapsed time, and when sound is detected, the input monitor activates.
  9. When finished recording, click Stop Stop, and a message will display indicating the file's name.
Note:  The file's name is Recording 1 and is displayed under the category Recordings. If additional files are recorded during the same session for the selected patient, the numeric value within the filename will increment by 1 (e.g., Recording 2, Recording 3, etc.). These files aren't saved within the session. Once Pro Fit closes or a different patient is selected, all recordings are removed from the Media Player.
  10. Click OK.
Tip:  To record another audio file, repeat steps 8-9.
  11. To play the recorded audio files, repeat steps 4-7.
  12. Click X on the Title Bar to close.
