Self Check
Self Check performs a diagnostic test of the components in your patient's wireless hearing aids via Pro Fit or the My Starkey mobile application. If the results determine that a component is not performing to baseline or fails the test, the hearing aid may need to be cleaned or repaired.
Self Check BaselineSelf Check Baseline
The factory sets the Self Check Baseline. However, if the acoustic options are changed, the baseline threshold is automatically updated.
Self Check DiagnosisSelf Check Diagnosis
Subsequent Self Check measurements, referred to as Self Check Diagnosis, can be performed by the patient in the field or by the professional in their office. Self Check Diagnosis measures are compared to the baseline to determine status.
After each successful completion, the hearing aids report status to the patient or professional.
The most recently collected Self Check data stored in the hearing aid can be viewed in Pro Fit. Test results saved to a previous fitting session can be viewed if retrieved.
- Connect and select the desired hearing aid(s) to test via Connect.
-
Click Connect.
- Click Self Check from the Left Navigation Menu.
- Pro Fit automatically defaults to a binaural
view if applicable. To test only the right or left hearing aid, click
or
.
Note: If viewing binaurally, the test is run in the right aid first and then the left aid. Note: If testing CROS/BiCROS devices, only the receiver aid can be tested; therefore, the side cannot be selected. - Place the hearing aid(s) on a flat, hard surface with the receiver facing up and reduce all noise sources.
Note: It's recommended that Self Check be performed in a quiet environment (≤ 85 dB SPL) with no speech/talking. - Click Begin Test to run the diagnostic test, and a brief, robust sound will be played in each hearing aid.

Tip: The patient can also run the test in the My Starkey mobile application by tapping Run Self Check via My Hearing>Self Check. Note: This button is only enabled during a live fitting. Tip: The Begin Test button changes to Cancel during the test. Click Cancel to cancel the test. - Review the test results and follow any recommended steps if necessary.
Note: If one of the two microphones fails on a device that supports a directional system, an alert
will appear on the Left Navigation Bar indicating that the hearing aid will operate in Omni mode.Status Pro Fit Icon My Starkey mobile application Icon Description Pass
