General Preferences

General Preferences identifies the hearing aid product catalog, language, default fitting selections, lock code, etc.

  1. Click Preferences from the Menu Bar.

  2. Click General.

  3. Enter or edit general settings.

    * If the target audience and/or locale was changed, exit Inspire and reaccess to implement the change
    Field Name Description Details

    Target Audience*

    Selects the catalog of hearing aids available for ordering and simulating.

    The options are based on Specsavers' facilities.

    Locale*

    Selects the language.

    The options are based on the Target Audience selected.

    Voice Language

    Selects the default voice language that should automatically be assigned for speech indicators on the Indicators (simulating only) and Auto Path screens.

    The default voice language is English - Male.

    Default Graphical View

    Selects the default graphical view throughout Inspire.

    The options available are 2cc Coupler Output (dB SPL), 2cc Coupler Gain (dB), Real Ear Response (dB SPL), and Predicted Insertion Gain (dB). The default is Real Ear Response (dB SPL).

    Default Fitting View

    Selects the default fitting view.

    The options available are QuickFit, Advanced, and Audiometer. The default fitting view is QuickFit. If Advanced is selected, either the Band or Fine Tuning screen displays based on the hearing aid connected.

    Display Thresholds and UCLs

    Denotes whether or not to display the patient's Audiogram thresholds on the SPL graphs with a thin black line.

    If selected, the patient’s hearing thresholds and UCLs will be converted to SPL and displayed on the graph along with the hearing device response. If the patient’s uncomfortable level thresholds (UCL) are entered into the NOAH database or on the Audiometer screen, they will also be displayed on the screen. By default, the thresholds are not displayed. If not selected and DSL v5 fitting formula is selected, air conduction and UCLs automatically display.

    Display Shading on SPL Graph

    Denotes whether or not to display shading on the SPL graphs, which represents the allowable range of adjustment (e.g., gain or output).

    The default is to display shading.

    Display Max Output Line on all SPL Graphs

    Denotes whether or not to display the maximum output line on the SPL graphs.

    The default is to display Max Output Line.

    Default Expert Assistant to Advanced View

    Denotes whether or not to display the advanced view automatically when Expert Assistant is accessed.

    This preference is not applicable for products that only encompass the Advanced View. The default is to display the Standard View.

    Prompt for Session Description

    Denotes whether or not to display a description field in the Save Fitting dialog box.

    The default is to display a prompt when closing the existing session.

    Show Matrices in Select Products

    Denotes whether or not to display the product's matrices in the Matrix drop down list on the H/A Selection screen.

    The default is to show categories (Standard, Power, eXtreme Power, Absolute Power, or Power Plus).

    Launch Auto Path on Initial Read

    Denotes whether or not Auto Path should launch automatically when a hearing aid containing this feature is connected and read but Auto Path has not been executed previously.

    The default is to have Auto Path launch automatically.

    Default Performance Values Region Open

    Denotes whether or not to display the numerical values for Gain and Output on the Fine Tuning screen and Threshold Kneepoints and Compression Ratios on the Compression screen automatically (for select products only).

    The default is to hide the numerical values.

    Automatically mute devices when detected

    Denotes whether or not to turn off (mute) the microphone when a hearing aid is connected and a live fitting is selected.

    The default is to not mute devices. If not selected and Auto Path is launched or a receiver is being changed, the hearing aid is muted automatically.

    Hearing Aid Lock Code Key

    Identifies the code to lock a hearing aid and prevent any adjustments without first unlocking the aid.

    1 Numeric (0-9) per field; 4 digit code required; code 0000 disallowed

    If a code is identified, the 4 digit code will be stored in the aid if enabled via Device Access Settings. When the hearing aid is later connected, if the 4 digit code doesn't match the code in General Preferences, it must be entered to unlock the aid before it can be read and adjustments made.

  4. Click OK to save the settings for this session and return to the currently displayed screen.

Tip:  Click Cancel to discard the changes and return to the currently displayed screen.
 
Tip:  Click Apply to save the settings for this session but remain in the Preferences menu.
 
Tip:  Click Restore to Inspire Defaults to revert the aforementioned Inspire defaults back to their original default settings.
