Indicators for Advance 26, Advance 26 Micro, Advance 24, Advance 25, and Advance 23 Products

Indicators set and adjust the signals that inform the patient of a low battery, memory change, volume increase/decrease, etc., select the language for speech indicators, and enable/disable any desired indicators. Adjustments can be made globally or individually and can be demonstrated to the patient through his/her hearing aids or to his/her family through the computer's speakers.

The indicators available are based on the hearing aid connected or simulated and its physical user control (e.g., switch, Sweep Technology, etc.). For example, Self Check is only available if the hearing aid supports this feature, and Favorite Button and Cell Phone are only available for wireless hearing aids. Indicators are enabled by default if the hearing aid features are enabled. For example, Telephone is only enabled if a Telephone memory is enabled.

Either a speech or tone (pure or warble) signal can be selected for most indicators. Speechautomatically defaults for all indicators that support speech and tone automatically defaults for all other indicators.

The default presentation levels are based on the patient's audiogram. If a valid audiogram exists, the default speech and pure tone levels are based on the patient’s Pure Tone Average and the default warble tone levels are based on the patient’s threshold for the specific frequency. If a valid audiogram has not been entered for the patient, all default levels are 90 dB SPL. All levels can be increased or decreased in 5 dB increments.

  1. Connect and select the desired hearing aid(s) to adjust via Get Started.

  2. Click Quick Connect or Session Connect.

  3. Click Fitting from the Left Navigation Menu.

  4. Click Indicators.

  5. Inspire automatically defaults to a binaural Select Binaural view if applicable. To adjust only the right or left hearing aid, click Select Right Only or Select Left Only.

  6. Make any global adjustments if desired.

Note:  If fitting binaurally but viewing monaurally, any tone and/or speech adjustments apply to the selected ear side only. However, any voice language and/or enable automatic indicator level change selections are automatically assigned to both ears because the settings must match between devices.

    Field Name Description Details
Tone Increases, decreases, or resets all enabled tonal indicator levels. Click  to increase or  to decrease all tonal levels 5 dB. Subsequent clicks increases or decreases all levels in 5 dB increments. Once the maximum or minimum level is reached, the button is disabled. Click Reset to revert all tonal indicators back to their Best Fit level (=).
Speech Increases, decreases, or resets all enabled speech indicator levels. Click  to increase or  to decrease all speech levels 5 dB. Subsequent clicks increases or decreases all levels in 5 dB increments. Once the maximum or minimum level is reached, the button is disabled. Click Reset to revert all speech indicators back to their Best Fit level (=).
Voice Language Selects the language for all speech indicators. If Auto Path was run previously, the voice language selected automatically defaults. If simulating, the voice language selected via General Preferences automatically defaults.
Enable automatic indicator level change Denotes whether or not the hearing aid should automatically adjust the volume level based on the noise level in a specific environment. This feature is automatically checked by default.
  7. To adjust a specific indicator, click the checkbox to the left of the indicator to enable or disable.

Note:  If the hearing aid feature hasn't been enabled, this field is disabled. Enable the desired feature first (e.g., memory, volume, etc.) via the appropriate Fitting screen. For Self Check, the hearing aid must have a baseline and User-Initiated Self Check must be selected via Self Check. When an indicator is enabled, the average level of all enabled indicators of that type (tone or speech) defaults.

Note:  If the Favorite button is configured for None, Jump to Memory 4, or Initiate Self Check via Wireless Accessories, the Favorite Button indicator cannot be enabled.

Note:  T2 Wake cannot be enabled or disabled via this screen. Rather, T2 Remote Control, if applicable, and/or T2 on Demand must be enabled or disabled via User Control Configuration or Fitting Summary.

Note:  If enabling or disabling Self Check: Pass or Self Check: Fail, both indicators will be enabled or disabled because the state of these two indicators must match.

Note:  If viewing binaurally, both hearing aids will be enabled or disabled based on the selection. To enable or disable the right or left hearing aid only, click Select Right Only or Select Left Only and then click the desired checkbox.
  8. Click on the specific indicator to adjust if desired.

Note:  Only enabled indicators can be adjusted. The selected indicator is represented in orange.
  9. Select the desired Stimulus from the drop down list.

Note:  Based on the indicator selected determines the available stimulus (speech, warble, or specific pure tones). If the stimulus is changed from speech to tone or vice versa, the average level of all enabled indicators of that type (tone or speech) defaults.

Note:  If fitting binaurally but viewing monaurally, the stimulus selected is automatically assigned to the opposite ear side because the setting must match between devices.
  10. Click  to increase or  to decrease the tone or speech level 5 dB. Subsequent clicks increase or decrease the level in 5 dB increments.

Tip:  Once the maximum or minimum level is reached, the button is disabled. Click Reset to revert the indicator back to its Best Fit level (=).
  11. If Speech was selected in step 9, check or uncheck Speech Alert Tone to enable or disable the alert tone.

Note:  If checked, an alert tone will play prior to the speech indicator. The alert tone level will mimic the speech indicator level selected.

Note:  If fitting binaurally but viewing monaurally, the setting selected is automatically assigned to the opposite ear side because the state of this feature must match between devices.
  12. Click Play  to demonstrate the indicator to the patient through his/her hearing aid(s).

Note:  This button is only enabled during a live fitting. If viewing binaurally and the indicator is enabled in both hearing aids, the indicator is presented in the left aid first, followed by a 2 second delay before it's presented in the right aid.
  13. Click Demo to demonstrate the indicator to the patient's family through the computer's speakers if desired.

Note:  If Speech Alert Tone was selected in step 11, the tone is not played during the speaker demonstration.
